Chris Meister is the Executive Director of the Illinois Finance Authority/Climate Bank (IFA), a self-funded State agency created under Illinois law tasked with combatting climate change in an inclusive and equitable manner. Under the leadership of Governor JB Pritzker and with the support of Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, IFA has obtained more than $250 million through the federal Inflation Reduction Act’s Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF). Using public finance, in calendar years 2022 and 2023, IFA mobilized more than $600 million of private capital for climate finance projects, 54% of which are in or benefit low-income and disadvantaged communities across Illinois. As a strategic partner of the ChicagoPACE Program, IFA is actively working with the City to modernize its commercial property assessed clean energy program to spur inclusive and equitable climate-oriented economic development across Chicago. Chris is a 2024 Crain’s Chicago Business Notable Leader in Sustainability.
