Amy Kurt is the Director of Development for the Eastern Region and Canada at EDP Renewables North America (EDPR). She has been at EDPR since 2017 and currently leads a development team of 45 diverse individuals, developing more than 14 GW of wind, solar, and battery energy storage projects. Her team is managing 6 projects which are currently under construction totaling 700 MW and another 5 projects totaling 700 MW which are commercially contracted and scheduled to start construction in 2025.
Ms. Kurt has more than 20 years of experience in various roles in the non-profit, government, and private sectors working towards a cleaner energy future. Prior to EDPR, she was a Director of Development at Clean Line Energy Partners, developing interregional HVDC transmission lines, working to bring renewable energy from where it is most abundant to where it is most needed. Ms. Kurt began her career as an environmental organizer leading clean energy advocacy work with a series of environmental NGOs. Later on, she gained experience working in state government, as the Director of Public Affairs for the Office of the Ohio Consumers’ Counsel representing residential consumers on utility issues.
She obtained a BA in Earth and Environmental Sciences from Wesleyan University in 2004, and currently lives in Chicago, IL with her husband and two children.
